Fourteen acres of private grounds wrap the cottages in gardens, meadow and far-reaching views across the Wiltshire countryside.
Set atop Alderbury Hill, the estate looks out over open country, with the main house and gardens framed by mature trees. Guests are welcome to wander the grounds, find a quiet corner to read, or simply take in the views.
Each cottage has its own private outdoor space and generous on-site parking, so there is room to relax in complete seclusion.
Two Shetland ponies and a GSP puppy share the grounds with our guests. Children and grown-ups alike are welcome to say hello. You are welcome to feed the ponies a carrot or an apple — but just one each, please, as they are watching their weight! Feeding should always be supervised by an adult. The ponies are gentle, but they are still animals, so please approach them calmly and at your own risk.
Rudi is our new German Shorthaired Pointer puppy. The house felt far too quiet without a dog, and he has brought all the noise and mischief straight back — a cheeky little character in his own right, settling in beautifully.
In loving memory. Our previous German Shorthaired Pointer and the soul of the home for many years — guests who stayed with us before will surely remember him. The sweetest, gentlest dog, yet endlessly cheeky and hilarious, Axel was sadly lost to us earlier this year and is dearly missed by our family and everyone who knew him.
One of our two ponies and one of the originals — Manny is a miniature Shetland who has been with us for over ten years. Sweet and gentle, he can usually be found grazing the paddocks beside the cottages.
Felicity joined us a little over a year ago — a Shetland pony who came as a companion for Manny, after we sadly lost Daisy. Full of personality and a proper character, she has settled in as Manny's new best friend and has firmly taken on Daisy's role as the boss of the pair.
In loving memory. A miniature Shetland, Daisy was with us for over twenty-five years and was nearing thirty when she passed away. Sassy, yet the sweetest, gentlest mare, she was Manny's best friend — always the boss — and adored children and carrots in equal measure.
