House Rules

Alderbury Hill is a family home as well as a guest estate. You're very welcome to enjoy the gardens and walking field — we just ask that you keep to the guest areas and avoid the garden and lawn directly around the main house (marked in lilac on the site map for your reference), and are mindful of the private outdoor spaces belonging to neighbouring cottages.

We share the grounds with Rudi, our German Shorthaired Pointer puppy, and our two Shetland ponies, Manny and Felicity. They're very friendly and love to say hello. If you're bringing a dog, please keep them under close control around the ponies — not all dogs and ponies are instant friends.

Check-in is from 15:00 to 20:00, and we will usually meet you on arrival to welcome you in. If we cannot be there, or you are arriving out of hours, a lockbox is available for self check-in. Check-out is by 11:00.

Check-out after 11:00 incurs a charge of £35 per hour, or part thereof, unless agreed in advance — our cleaning team is booked to arrive by 11:00.

Pets are welcome for a fee of £40 for the first dog, with additional dogs at £10 each. Please enquire for multiple-dog bookings. Kindly keep dogs off beds and furniture.

The cottages are non-smoking homes. Guests may, of course, smoke outside.

No parties. We are a quiet country estate and ask that every stay remains peaceful for other guests and our neighbours.

Commercial filming must be approved by the owner in advance and may attract additional charges.

For your peace of mind, a carbon monoxide alarm and smoke alarm are installed. Please note pets live on the property, and the cottage involves stairs.

Cancel within the free-cancellation window shown against your dates for a full refund. After that, a partial refund may apply depending on how close to arrival you cancel. The exact terms and refund amounts are confirmed at the time of booking.
